Three boats attacked Zueitina oil port in northern Ajdabia on Sunday, the spokesperson of Ibrahim Jodran's armed groups which seize oil facilities in the oil crescent region has declared, an operation that warns of new tactics taken up by IS in their pursuit of laying hands on oil ports in Libya.

Ali Al-Hassi confirmed that their forces foiled the IS attack before the boats come ashore the port, pointing out that they shot one of the boats leaving it ablaze.

The fresh IS attack comes following last week's two-day clashes between Ibrahim Jodran groups and IS militants around Sidra port. Ten Jodran fighters were killed during the clashes.

Zueitina is a small oil exporting port located about 180 km southwest of Benghazi.
