The Anti-illegal Immigration Agency said Wednesday that more than 300 migrants held at the Tajoura shelter went out into the streets without being intercepted.

"A team of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) visited Tajoura shelter on Tuesday, to relocate 55 migrants and retain another 310 others at the shelter, however, confusion and disorder erupted among the immigrants, because they said that the mechanism used for selecting the vulnerable was unfair," the information office of the agency explained.

A group of migrants then left the shelter to the streets after they were told by the commission that only 55 migrants will be transferred according to an advanced list prepared by the UNHCR.

The migrants left to the crisis center for assembly and departure of the UNHCR without being intercepted by any official body, according to the agency's information office.

Forces of war criminal, Khalifa Haftar targeted last week an immigration shelter in Tajoura district, leaving dozens dead and more injured.
