The new Head of the Presidential Council (PC) of the newly elected Government of National Unity (GNU), Mohamed Menfi, said on Friday that he would follow efforts at all levels to hold free, transparent and fair elections on time, to coincide with the up-coming celebrations of Libya’s anniversary of independence.
In a speech to the Libyan people, Menfi promised to support the path of the Joint Military Committee 5+5 to unify the military institutions.
He added that his finest efforts would be focused on establishing the national reconciliation process by building its foundations and providing its requirements and conditions.
The Head of the PC stressed the need to conduct the electoral process within the given timeframe, in order to amalgamate the principle of peaceful transfer of power, to ensure the success of the democratic process, which Menfi considered not only the best, but the only way to overcome the Libyan crisis and reach a peaceful solution.
