The Head of the Libyan Presidential Council, Mohammed Menfi, and the Head of the UN Support Mission in Libya (UNSMIL), Jan Kubis, have reiterated the importance of withdrawing all foreign forces and mercenaries from Libya and supporting the efforts leading to December general elections.

In a meeting Thursday in Tripoli, Menfi and Kubis discussed the latest developments in the security and political fields as well as support of UNSMIL for national reconciliation, and reopening the coastal road in coordination with the 5+5 Joint Military Commission.

Kubis hailed, according to a statement by the Presidential Council, the efforts of the Presidential Council in kick-starting national reconciliation to achieve transitional justice.

Meanwhile, Menfi was invited Wednesday by the UN Secretary General, Antonio Guterres, and German Foreign Minister Heiko Maas to attend Berlin II Conference on June 23 to discuss the political process and the withdrawal of mercenaries from Libya.
