The Head of the Libyan Presidential Council, Mohammed Menfi, met with the Mauritanian Foreign Minister, Ismael Ould Cheikh Ahmed, in the presence of the Foreign Minister, Najla Al-Mangoush, in Tripoli and discussed the importance of activating the Arab Maghreb Union and supporting its institutions.

Menfi reiterated that Libya would exert its best efforts to activate the Arab Maghreb Union as it's the current chair and would soon invite countries to convene a meeting on all levels, according to the media office of Menfi.

Menfi and Ismael Ould Cheikh Ahmed also reviewed the latest developments in Libya and the work after the endorsement of the Government of National Unity (GNU) by the House of Representatives so that the Presidential Council and the GNU would establish security and stability as well as national reconciliation, unification of state institutions and then leading the country to general elections to December elections.

The Mauritanian Foreign Minister congratulated Menfi and the GNU on assuming office leading to the general elections, voicing his country's keenness on boosting bilateral relations with Libya and its support for the Libyan executive authority in Arab, Arab Maghreb, and African circles, delivering a letter from the Mauritanian President to Menfi at the end of their meeting.
