The member of the High Council of State (HCS) Belgasim Debriz has slammed the UN envoy to Libya Ghassan Salame as being pressed by the latest Tripoli's violence to make "haphazard" and tip-of-the-tongue statements.

Debriz told a local TV channel on Tuesday that Salame is a UN envoy who should be non-biased.

"I'm bewildered that Salame has spent over a year since he took over from Martin Kobler and never has he uttered any rejection or criticism of the acts done by Khalifa Haftar neither in Derna nor in Benghazi." The HCS's member said.

He said that Salame did his best in Tripoli so it could avoid bloodshed and destruction but he did not comment on Benghazi, which has been ransacked by warplanes.

Meanwhile, Salame accused the current political bodies of having no true will to end the crisis in Libya, calling on HCS and HoR to do their bits or the UNSMIL will fall back upon some other plans.

HCS said in a statement that Salame's accusation that 2012 and 2014 elected MPs of the HCS and the House of Representatives only aspire for staying in their posts forever is untrue.

"We remind the UNSMIL and Salame of the HCS's stance in support of the political agreement and the communication with the HoR for any efforts to reshuffle the Presidential Council and appoint incumbents for state sovereign posts, thus leading to uniting the fragmented institutions." The statement reads, adding that its efforts always were for ending the transitional phase and entering the constitutional one.
