The Maltese Prime Minister, Robert Abela, said his country's embassy and consulate in Libya will be reopened as soon as possible, vowing to revive flights' line between Libya and Malta very soon as well.

In a joint press conference with the Libyan Prime Minister Abdul-Hamid Dbeibah in Tripoli on Monday, Abela said his government was looking forward to more cooperation with the Libyan Government of National Unity, reiterating support for Libya in security, economic and other areas.

Meanwhile, Dbeibah reiterated the importance of bilateral relations between Libya and Malta and said his government would boost those relations in the best interest of the two peoples, adding that Malta had played an important role in resolving Libya's conflict by hosting several meetings for Libyan rival parties.

Dbeibah said the two countries had been working on bilateral and regional cooperation, referring to trade exchanges and the resumption of flights as they are the most significant areas of cooperation, in addition to boosting diplomatic representation to facilitate visa processing for Libyans from inside Libya and to facilitate the paperwork and other services needed by Libyans living in Malta, let alone the resumption of banking cooperation.

The Maltese Prime Minister arrived, with the Foreign and Interior Ministers as well as other officials, on Monday morning in Tripoli and was received by the Libyan Prime Minister.
