The Tripoli-based House of Representatives (HoR) has cited obscure arrangements for the political talks in Geneva for its suspension of participation, according to a letter sent by the HoR Speaker Hamouda Sayala to the UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres.

The HoR Speaker said breaches of the truce in Tripoli by Khalifa Haftar's forces are still ongoing, leading to several civilian casualties and damage to infrastructure due to the systematic attacks on vital facilities and institutions in and around the capital.

"We haven't received any agenda for the political talks and the mechanism of selecting the participants. That is why we have suspended our participation. Our letter to the UN Secretary General called for tangible outcome from the 5+5 military commission talks with the two parties signing a permanent ceasefire agreement under the auspices of the UN and the return of IDPs to their areas." Sayala added.

The letter called for ending the oil blockade and commitment to the Libyan Political Agreement as the only foundation for political dialogues, asking for more details about the independent figures participating in Geneva's political talks upon Ghassan Salame's invitation.

Sayala also rejected the list of participants of Tobruk-based HoR Speaker Aqila Saleh, saying it has some members who are boycotting Tripoli-based HoR sessions.

Meanwhile, the UNSMIL kick-started on Wednesday the political dialogue with the presence of 20 persons invited by Salame, without the presence of HoR and High Council of State's delegations.
