The Libyan Presidential Council has welcomed the extension of the UN Support Mission's mandate in Libya and the Security Council's reiteration that the "Government of National Accord" is the only legitimate body in the country.

In a statement on Facebook, the PC said it will continue to cooperate with international expertise to unite all state institutions and to implement the security arrangements as per the Libya Political Agreement of Skhirat.

It called for the need to halt the attacks on Tripoli and to sanction the parties that hindered the UN-led political process.

It also said that the attacking forces had led a failed coup against legitimacy in the country and hindered the Libyan National Conference scheduled by UNSMIL on April 14 by starting an offensive to establish military rule and dictatorship.

"We will continue to build the civilian institutions and to have all security and military institutions under civilian authority with the help of international partners." The statement reads.

It said that the support continues for the UNSMIL in its work on revising and auditing the expenditure and reserves of the Central Bank of Libya.
