The Presidential Council urged in a statement on Friday the UN Security Council to hold to account the countries supporting Khalifa Haftar as they are fully responsible for the violations committed by Haftar's forces.

The Presidential Council strongly condemned the airstrike that targeted the headquarters of the Interior Ministry in Tripoli, saying it is part of a series of attacks that also targeted civilian airports of Mitiga and Misrata, state institutions, residential areas and hospitals that led to deaths and injuries among civilians.

"The attackers are using such terrorist attacks to destabilize Tripoli so they can enter and usurp power." It added.

It also held the UNSMIL accountable for the attacks, calling on it to fulfill its promises by sending these violations to the Security Council to take deterrent actions and halt these criminal attacks.

The Presidential Council said such terrorist attacks won't affect the efforts to defend Tripoli and defeat the attackers.

A warplane of Haftar's forces carried out Thursday an airstrike on Interior Ministry headquarters in Tripoli causing material damage to it and injuries among civilians who live nearby.
