The Libyan Mufti, sheikh Al-Sadiq Al-Gharyani, said Wednesday that the UN envoy to Libya Ghassan Salame is "lying to Libyans" referring to Salame's recent briefing at the Security Council.

The Mufti added in a weekly program on Tanasuh TV that Salame is executing the agenda of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and is hired by a country that is fighting Libyans via its weapons and money.

"Salame is just the political fighter on the ground for that country." The Mufti indicated.

He remarked that the statements of denouncement by the government officials won't help, saying the government should gather signatures (a petition) that demand sacking Salame for his repetitive lies and falsification.

"Salame is clearly siding with the enemy of Libyan Army and revolutionaries at the Security Council. His presence as an envoy in Libya is a shame on all of Libyans." The Mufti added.

Likewise, the Cyrenaica Society's founding committee and Misrata elders and dignitaries' council said in a statement Wednesday that Salame is biased to military rule and tyranny.

"Salame's briefing at the Security Council was false and inaccurate as he made equal the attacking forces and the defending ones." The statement reads.

It called as well for replacing Salame and urged the Presidential Council's government to take legal action against him at once.
