The Libyan Interior Ministry has said Khalifa Haftar forces' act of cutting off water supplies to Tripoli means they are ready to commit more heinous crimes for power, calling on the international community and human rights organizations to document this crime as per the relevant Security Council resolutions.

The Interior Ministry added in a statement on Wednesday that if not held accountable now, Haftar's forces would commit more atrocities and crimes.

"Cutting off water supplies to Tripoli and its suburbs is another crime by war criminal Haftar and his forces and a violation of human rights as well as local and international laws." The statement reads, deploring the use of water facilities and people's source of life to achieve military or political gains.

It said that cutting off water supplies amid the measures aimed to limit the spread of Coronavirus in the country could endanger the lives of families and children and could cause a humanitarian disaster, adding that such measures necessitate every single service including water.

A pro-Haftar armed group in south Libya stormed two days ago one of the Man-made River facilities and shut valves to cut off water supplies to Tripoli and surrounding western cities.
