The Libyan Interior Ministry said the decision to transfer police officers to the military brigades of Khalifa Haftar, whose forces are waging war on Tripoli, is an attempt to involve security personnel in military operations, for which they are not fit.

In a statement on Wednesday, the Interior Ministry said this decision is out of the enormous loss of fighters on Haftar's forces side in their war on their fellow Libyan citizens in Tripoli.

The Interior Ministry called on police personnel to avoid being used for such a war and to remain in their posts to provide services to the people as per their specialties.

It also said that Haftar and the Interior Minister of Interim Government in eastern Libya, Ibrahim Bushanaf are legally responsible for such a decision

Libyan News Agency - based in Al-Bayda in eastern Libya - said Tuesday that Haftar had issued a decision to transfer 678 police officers and personnel from the Interim Government's Interior Ministry to his military forces.
