The Interior Minister of the Libyan Presidential Council Fathi Bashagha said in a meeting in Rome on Thursday that security in Libya needs logistics, technical equipments and other necessities that can boost the abilities of the Libyan security personnel to fight terrorists, extremists and outlaws.

In the meeting, which was attended by the Deputy Head of UNSMIL for political affairs Stephenie Williams, Italian ambassador to Libya, Libyan ambassador to Italy, US, France, UK, Egypt's ambassadors and the UAE's envoy, Bashagha said his ministry is working on boosting the capabilities of the personnel via training and courses.

He also reviewed his ministry's work at the meeting, referring to the opening of a human rights office, family and children care office, women affairs office and others.

Meanwhile, Williams reiterated the UNSMIL's commitment to supporting the Interior Ministry.

Bashagha arrived in Italy after visits to the US, Morocco and Niger.

In Italy, Bashagha also met with Italy's Interior Minister, Defense Minister, Chief of Staff and other officials, visiting as well military factories to pave the way for reactivating previous agreements between the two countries, according to the Interior Ministry's media office.
