The Libyan Interior Minister Fathi Bashagha called on security apparatuses to commit to the laws in treating prisoners of war (POWs).
Bashagha said in a letter to security apparatuses on Sunday that all security forces should respect the humanity, dignity, and rights of anyone captured on frontlines, asking them to provide medical assistance to the detainees when needed.
He also said that international laws, conventions and treaties should all be respected as Libya is committee to all such principles.
Bashagha told detention apparatuses to send the detainees to investigations and to the concerned authorities for legal procedures and then to be tried in fair and just court proceedings.
In a separate letter, Bashagha called on Al-Zawiya security directorate to investigate the violations in arresting procedures after capturing one of Khalifa Haftar's pilots who was detained by First Backup Force of the Directorate, denouncing using the name of Interior Ministry in such human rights violations.
Bashagha asked the Head of the directorate to reshuffle the cadres of First Backup Force and to appoint qualified officers in coordination with the Interior Ministry.
