The Libyan Interior Minister Fathi Bashagha instructed on Thursday the international cooperation department of the ministry to halt security cooperation with France.

Bashagha said the halt of cooperation with France includes also training programs and other bilateral agreements, citing the French support for the "war criminal" Khalifa Haftar.

Several reports have depicted France's support for Haftar in his war on Tripoli with Italian officials publicly accusing France of creating chaos in Libya by backing up Haftar for economic benefits.

France has always been on Haftar's favorite list of supporters since he kicked off his Dignity Operation in Benghazi and then in Derna. France also admitted that three of its soldiers died in a helicopter crash over western Benghazi in 2016.

Bashagha also called on the Attorney General to bring Haftar and his forces to justice for their random Grad shelling on Tripoli's residential areas.

He indicated that launching rockets on residential areas in Tripoli is a crime that aims at destabilizing the country disregarding all social and political as well as constitutional norms.
