The Libyan House of Representatives (HoR) withdrew Tuesday confidence in the Government of National Unity headed by Abdul-Hamid Dbeibah after a closed voting session, according to a number of members.
The spokesman for the HoR, Abdullah Blehiq, said the withdrawal vote was passed by majority of 89 members out of 113 attending the session.
Meanwhile, a good number of members rejected the decision of the HoR, as some described it "forgery" and accrued the HoR Presidency of hindering the holding of elections.
A petition signed by 38 members of the HoR rejected also the decision to withdraw confidence in the unity government, while other members said they had been tricked after Monday session was suspended to form committees to hold the government accountable for its performance, adding that they were surprised to see voting taking place on Tuesday to withdraw confidence in the government.
Other members said the withdrawal of confidence is invalid because the law says such a step needs three combined conditions: request made by 50 HoR members, consensus on withdrawal of confidence between the HoR and High Council of State, and a vote in favor of the withdrawal by 120 members, all of which didn't happen in Tuesday session.
