Khalifa Haftar has ordered his forces to continue fighting during Ramadan, saying this holy month is a month of jihad and Islamic conquests.

"When we were fighting in Benghazi and Derna, we did not stop the battle in Ramadan at the time." Haftar said in a statement read by his forces' spokesman Ahmed Al-Mismari on Sunday.

Haftar said terrorism is still persistent in Libya and is destroying its economy using mercenaries who are supported by money and weapons by many countries.

"The fighters should target the enemy and attack them quickly and in surprise. They should maintain their ammunition to pursue the retreating enemy." Haftar added.

Meanwhile, sources close to Presidential Council's Volcano of Rage Operation said the forces managed to cut off supply lines of Haftar's forces in different frontlines, saying Haftar's forces have acute shortages of foods and low morale because they thought the battle would be fast, yet it entered the second month.

The UNSMIL called on Sunday on all parties to commit to an extendable one-week humanitarian truce starting Ramadan 01, but Haftar's statement came as a clear rejection to such a call.
