The General Electricity Company of Libya (GECOL) said the South Korean Hyundai technical team, which is working in the western Tripoli power plant, has finished inspection of the project equipment and machinery after working for the last ten days.

GECOL added on its Facebook page that Hyundai will return to resume the project in Libya as soon as possible.

GECOL also added that A Daewoo team also visited for a whole week the Zueitina power plant project and assessed the equipment in order to pave the way for the resumption of work at the project.

The two teams arrived in Libya two weeks ago to discuss the return of the technicians and engineers to work in western Tripoli and Zueitina power plants.

GECOL said that the South Korean ambassador to Libya visited the western Tripoli power plant along with a Korean delegation, GECOL General Director, the Manager of the power plant and a number of supervising committee members at the plant.

"The Korean ambassador hailed the efforts of the GECOL in returning the two companies' teams to finish the contracted projects." GECOL added, saying he vowed to press the government into allowing the Korean companies to come back to Libya to finish all suspended projects.

CEO of the GECOL, Abdelmajid Hamza, visited the last two days Ubari steam power plant along with A Turkish team from ENKA, which is contracted by Libya to operate the plant, in order to pave the way for their possible return before summer's heat.
