The Libyan Foreign Ministry has welcomed the appointment of the new UN envoy, Jan Kubis, to the country, reiterating commitment to helping him carry out his job in establishing peace and stability via the Libyan dialogue tracks.

The Libyan Foreign Ministry said it "feels good about the new Head of UN Support Mission for his good international reputation as being a foreign minister in Slovakia and afterwards an international figure in different places.

It also added that the positions held by the upcoming Head of UNSMIL in Lebanon, Afghanistan, Tajikistan and Iraq have had promising impact toward peace and stability.

On Monday, Kubis announced the end of his tenure as a UN Special Coordinator in Lebanon, with the Lebanese President giving Kubis National Order of the Cedar as a Knight for his role in the country.
