The Libyan Foreign Ministry has condemned the airstrike of Khalifa Haftar's foreign warplanes on the Military College in Tripoli that killed and injured scores of cadets.

The Foreign Ministry said the coward attack by Haftar's forces shows the world that they are not fighting terrorism but are practicing it in violation of the international humanitarian law.

It added that it had called on the Security Council to hold an emergency meeting to discuss the war crimes of Haftar's forces, urging the council to intervene and halt the aggression on Tripoli to save the lives of civilians.

Meanwhile, the Security Council approved holding a closed session on Monday to discuss the situation in Libya, the Foreign Ministry announced on its Facebook page on Saturday afternoon.

It added that the international community should take up its responsibility to send Haftar and his leaderships to international courts for committing crimes against humanity.

In the meantime, thousands of Tripoli residents performed funeral prayer for the 30 killed cadets at the Tripoli Martyrs Square on Saturday afternoon.

Earlier, many angry protesters took to streets in Tripoli and other cities to condemn Haftar's massacre at the Military College.
