The General Electricity Company of Libya (GECOL) said two units at Misrata power plant had gone out of service due to a technical problem in the network.

GECOL said the technical fault caused an outage of 450 megawatts from the generation capacity of the plant, adding that South Tripoli power plant had also stopped generating electricity due to the piling of garbage, leading to an outage of 400 megawatts.

GECOL also said load shedding hours would see some increase as its teams started to work on operating Misrata power plant's units.

Tripoli has been seeing improved electricity services over the last days as rolling blackouts are decreased to lesser hours or without any in some areas due to moderate temperatures with the advent of spring.
