East-based House of Representatives (HoR) members called on Aqilah Saleh to reveal the fate of the former Mayr of Benghazi and his son.

Former Benghazi mayor and deputy spy chief of the east-based Interim Government Ahmed Araibi was kidnapped along with his son in Arid Lamloum, Benghazi.

Eyewitnesses said they heard gunshots during the abduction by "military men" in "five military vehicles."

In a letter on Thursday, the members called on Saleh to instruct authorities to investigate the incident and punish the perpetrators.

They added that the "militias who did such a terrorist act must be punished as they are doing something resembling the long-time dictatorship Libyans endured for 43 years."

No official claims of responsibility for the abduction neither from Khalifa Haftar's command nor from other parties have been made yet.

Meanwhile, sources said that the kidnappers are from Salafist brigade Tariq Bin Ziyad that is loyal to Khalifa Haftar, who has lately placed under his son-led Brigade 106.
