The Libyan Defense Minister Salah Al-Namroush has warned UNSMIL and countries supporting peace dialogues in Libya that the Libyan Army under the command of the Government of National Accord (GNA) could withdraw from the 5+5 joint commission's ceasefire agreement if violations from Khalifa Haftar’s forces continued.

"If Haftar was to carry out any military act, the ceasefire agreement will be immediately considered null and void." Al-Namroush said in a statement Monday.

Al-Namroush also said he was surprised to see the UNSMIL silent toward the violations of Khalifa Haftar’s forces of the ceasefire in their attacks in south Libya.

Al-Namroush added that he was also shocked by the silence of the international community that backs up the ongoing peace process in Libya toward Haftar forces’ violations of ceasefire in their attack in Ubari on Sunday and a week ago.

“I don’t know if the international community and the UNSMIL will just remain silent and will then regard any statements by the GNA as a threat to the ongoing dialogues.” Al-Namroush wondered.

Haftar’s forces have attacked Ubari twice in a few days. On Sunday, Haftar’s forces attacked the Sabha military zone headquarters but then retreated upon resistance, while a week ago, they attacked civilian houses allegedly looking for wanted persons, destroying a number of houses along the way.
