The Defense Minister of the Libyan Presidential Council Mahdi Al-Barghathi said he rejects the decision to sack him by Fayez Al-Sirraj, saying the decision needs to be tackled by administrative judiciary.

In a statement issued by Al-Barghathi on Tuesday, he said sacking him from Defense Minister's post without announcing the probe's results is a punishment for Brak Al-Shaati crime and a violation of the law, besides being an attempt to cover-up for the real criminals, sending a message to the public that he was to blame for the crime.

"It is also a violation of the Administrative Control Authority's decision that allowed me to resume my position." He added.

"Intentionally covering up the results of the Brak Al-Shaati military base crime's investigation is the cause of my dismissal from my post as Al-Sirraj received those results a year ago." Al-Barghathi explained.

He also said he is under the law and he will do all it takes to do justice to the families of the victims by revealing the identities of those who committed the crime, not matter how high-ranking officials they could be.

"All Presidential Council members must take a stance regarding the behavior of Al-Sirraj that violate the Libyan Political Agreement and other laws." the statement reads.

"We should all fight against the fait accompli policies and hegemony that are being exerted nowadays and return to the law and order." He further added.
