The Head of the Libyan Presidential Council Fayez Al-Sarraj arrives in Rome on Monday to meet with the Italian Prime Minister Giuseppe Conte and discuss the current conflict in Libya's capital Tripoli, Aki news agency reported.

Meanwhile, a source from the Libyan Foreign Ministry told Panorama TV Channel that Al-Sarraj will visit Germany, the UK and France after his visit to Italy.

This is the first travel for Al-Sarraj since the attack on Tripoli by Khalifa Haftar's forces has started on April 04.

According to Aki, Conte and Al-Sarraj spoke on the phone in the last few days and the former reiterated Italy's insistence on a ceasefire and a political solution.

The deputy head of the Presidential Council Ahmed Mitig visited Rome and met with Conte in the first week of the offensive against Tripoli.

Italy has been firmly rejecting since day one of Haftar's attack on Tripoli the military solution and reiterated via many officials, including Interior Minister Matteo Salvini, its discomfort toward France's intervention accusing it of supporting Haftar to gain economic benefits in Libya.
