The Head of the Libyan Presidential Council Fayez Al-Sarraj met in Rome on Wednesday the Italian Prime Minister Giuseppe Conte in the presence of Libyan and Italian officials.

The meeting saw discussions about joint cooperation between the two countries in illegal immigration, services sector, infrastructure projects and the support of Libyan coastguards via training programs.

"There is no military solution to the Libyan crisis and Italy is keen on finding a political solution to achieve peace, stability and prosperity in Libya." Conte said, according to the media office of the Presidential Council.

Conte welcomed the initiative proposed by Al-Sarraj to end the conflict and said that the Presidential Council has been very active in fighting terrorism, hailing the role of the Libyan coastguards in combating illegal immigration and rescuing migrants despite all challenges.

Al-Sarraj, meanwhile; hailed Italy's rejection of the attack on Tripoli and support for the democratic choice of Libyans, saying the attackers of Tripoli are no longer partners in the political process.
