The Libyan Administrative Control Authority ordered on Monday lifting the immunity of the Head of the High Council of State (HCS) Khalid Al-Mishri.

The authority ordered the lifting because of an investigation into Al-Mishri's alleged financial and administrative violations when he was the head of the financial commission of the General National Congress.

The Head of the Presidential Council (PC), Fayez Al-Sirraj, appointed Sulaiman Al-Shanti as head of the authority to replace Nasser Ali Hassan at the recommendation of the HCS.

However, HCS member Naji Mukhtar and PC members Ahmed Mitig, Fathi Al-Mijibri and Abdelsalam Kajman, called for annulling the appointment of Al-Shanti and keeping Hassan in his post.

The PC members called on the Audit Bureau and the Central Bank's governor to ignore the decision to appoint Al-Shanti as the head of the Libyan Administrative Control Authority.

Meanwhile, Nasser Ali Hassan told the Audit Bureau and Central Bank of Libya and the rest of state officials not to approve any decisions by the PC if not signed by all of its members.

Hassan announced last December that he was no longer resigning from his post after he filed it to the Head of the HCS, citing the best interests of the authority and the country.

"I will be assuming my post as usual till sovereign posts' matters are resolved as per the Libyan Political Agreement's laws." He said.
