The Libyan Prime Minister Abdul-Hamid Dbeibah hailed the reopening of the German embassy in Tripoli as a positive step toward stability, expressing appreciation for the visit of the German Foreign Minister Heiko Maas who attended the opening ceremony along with the ambassador and staff.

Dbeibah and Maas met afterwards and discussed efforts to hold elections in December and the challenges facing Libyan authorities in this regard as Maas praised the progress in Libya and hoped things will continue on the same track which necessitates withdrawal of foreign forces and holding elections, stressing that Berlin II Conference conclusions should be implemented.

"Germany will continue to work for peace in Libya by increasing diplomatic presence. Libyans can now be proud of achievements like ending oil blockade, ceasefire agreement, and reopening the coastal road. They must work on this momentum to unify the country's institutions." Maas added.

The German Foreign Minister arrived Thursday morning to attend the opening of the embassy in Tripoli and met a number of Libyan officials, including the Prime Minister and the Head of the Presidential Council.
