The Libyan Prime Minister Abdul-Hamid Dbeibah said tackling public debt needs transparent statements about the value and unification of expenditure of the state to become priority-oriented.

In a ceremony in Tripoli for the delivery of the auditing report of the Central Bank of Libya (CBL) accounts, Dbeibah said such a method would ensure access of services to all Libyans, adding that the auditing report is a valuable document that is highly significant for the public and that his government intends to find solutions to pay the public debt that fed the political division and led to a split CBL management.

Meanwhile, CBL Governor Al-Siddiq Al-Kabir said repetitive wars, split of executive and legislative authorities as well as lack of security led to the confusion of operations at the CBL and banking sector over the last seven years, adding that the split of the CBL since 2014 wasn't a product of the will and desire of the board of directors, but rather was imposed by the status quo and political situation and the Government of National Unity's arrival gave hope for the unification of the CBL and the rest of sovereign institutions.

The Governor of the parallel CBL in Al-Bayda, Ali Al-Hibri, said the aim of the auditing was to build trust among all parties and that they had provided all needed documents and data as well as attended over 40 meetings with the auditing company, in addition to sending 64 files to make the process successful.
