Participants in the foundation gathering of the National Reconciliation Commission have stressed the need to move forward with the national reconciliation project, which is entrusted with addressing past mistakes and finding a way forward.

The commission made a statement after concluding a two-day gathering on Tuesday in Tripoli under the auspices and supervision of the Presidential Council and the participation of several elites and national experts from various cities of Libya.

In its final statement, the commission stressed the need to prevail over the language of tolerance and reconciliation, and to spread the culture of reconciliation among Libyans.

Participants called on all media and religious platforms, schools, universities, and social media, to start spreading the reconciliation culture and abide by all that spares Libyans feelings of hatred.

The commission kicked off its sessions for “the legal path” on Monday in Tripoli, with the participation of PC vice-presidents Moussa Al-Koni and Abdullah Al-Lafi, besides an array of ministers and UN, EU, AU representatives.
