The member of the Libyan House of Representatives (HoR) Musbah Douma said extending the mandate of the UN Support Mission in Libya (UNSMIL) is a prolongation to crisis in the country.

Douma told reporters on Saturday that UNSMIL failed the dialogue between HoR and High Council of State (HCS) as it did to other initiatives that aimed to solve the crisis in Libya.

"UNSMIL isn't neutral and Ghassan Samale is not abiding by his line of job." Douma added.

"Salame presented himself lately as the one who ceased fire in Tripoli - which is still ongoing - but has not said who was shelling vital institutions. He did not take heed of a statement by over 130 HoR members and 60 HCS ones who all said the Presidential Council was unable to be the leadership of the country." He further added.

Douma also questioned whether those parties whom Salame favors have sone their jobs regarding the political agreement or not, wondering if Salame is still committed to the international community, as he said, about security and economic plans.

"We call on all Libyan parties to meet in Tobruk without foreign intervention to amend the political agreement and include it in the constitutional declaration." He remarked.

Salame accused both HCS and HoR of standing in the way of the Libyan elections as they "pose threat to their existence."

"For the HoR and HCS, elections are a threat and they are impressing them constantly." He told the UN Security Council last Thursday.

"Libyans are waiting for those elections as away out of the crippled authorities that exist now." Salame added, citing a poll speaking of 80% of Libyans wishing to go elections.
