The military prosecutor of the Presidential Council, Masoud Erhouma, was kidnapped from in front of his house in Tripoli's Salah Eddine area this evening by unknown gunmen, sources close to his family reported.

"My father and his driver as well as the bodyguard were kidnapped by gunmen before arriving to our house in Tripoli." Erhouma's son, Fadil, explained.

He added that the armed group was in three cars and they abducted the military prosecutor 200 meters away from the house while he was coming back from work.

Meanwhile, the Chief of Tripoli Public Prosecution, Nouri Al-Wahishi, confirmed that Erhouma was detained Thursday as per an arrest warrant by Al-Zawiya prosecution department.

Al-Wahaishi denied to Alnabaa TV Channel any prior knowledge to the reasons of or the people behind the detention, saying it could be for 2011 revolution matters, as Erhouma is accused of cracking down on protesters at the time.

On November 16, 2017, the PC Head, Fayez Al-Sirraj, appointed Erhouma as military prosecutor.

Erhouma is from Al-Rajban, which is a western district that is known for supporting Dignity Operation of Khalifa Haftar. He was appointed deputy defense minister of the Interim Government in Al-Bayda. He resigned in late 2015.
