The Libyan interim Prime Minister, Abdul-Hamid Dbeibah, arrived Thursday in Cairo and met with the Egyptian President, Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, in his first official visit as a Libyan official since being elected by the Libyan Political Dialogue Forum (LPDF) in Geneva on February 05.
The meeting in Cairo was also attended by Egyptian Prime Minister, Foreign Minister and Chief of Intelligence, the Egyptian Presidency said, adding that Sisi had congratulated Dbeibah for the election by LPDF, saying it was a promising start and that Egypt would always support Libyans to achieve stability.
The statement said Sisi had reaffirmed Egypt’s full readiness to provide all its expertise and experience in a way that contributes to putting Libya on the right track and preparing the country to move towards horizons of construction, development and stability.
The Egyptian Presidency statement added that Sisi and Dbeibah had agreed to boost cooperation and consultations on many levels, especially in security and economic files.
Meanwhile, Dbeibah hailed Egypt's efforts in support of all tracks leading to finding solutions to the Libyan crisis, expressing willingness to establish a comprehensive partnership with the neighboring country.
Dbeibah added on Twitter that the meeting with Sisi was very important, adding that he had expressed support for the yet-to-be-formed Government of National Unity and the importance of Libya's sovereignty as well as unity with a halt of all forms of war among Libyans.
