The UNSMIL and international legal organizations should do more to protect the lives of several young men from Al-Khums city who were arrested by the Misrata joint security room last week, said the National Commission for Human Rights in Libya (NCHRL).

In a statement on Friday, the NCHRL said it received a video from inside the hospital showing "outlaw gunmen" storming into the hospital in order to kill some of the injured men in there.

"Elders from Al-Khums spoke out their concerns about the safety of the arrested young men inside the hospital, calling for sending the accused to the courts and releasing the innocent." The statement reads.

It also called on the Presidential Council, Interior Ministry and the elders of Misrata to look into the information provided in the statement and work to guarantee the safety of the injured persons and then bring them to justice.

An armed group stormed into Misrata Hospital on Thursday aiming at entering the emergency section to attack some of the injured persons who are part of an armed group that was detained a week ago in Al-Khums. The armed group is accused of killing four Misratans from the join security room when it was chasing a fugitive.

Violent clashes broke out in Al-Khums city - 120 km to east of Tripoli - between a security force tasked by the Attorney General to arrest a fugitive - named Nour Al-Deen Baba who is accused of killing 7 people - and an armed group in support of the criminal. At least 6 people were killed including 4 from the joint security room of Misrata.
