The spokesman for the Libyan House of Representatives (HoR) Abdullah Blehiq has mourned the member for Al-Marj, Faraj Buhashem, who died in a car accident.

Blehiq said the member of the HoR died along with his wife and daughter in a car accident in Al-Tamimi area in western Tobruk.

The accident was rendered by some as a staged one especially that Buhashem was a staunch objectionist to the candidacy of dual citizens in December elections and asked in the previous HoR session for excluding any person who is accused of crimes even if not charged yet.

Buhashem also rejected the offensive on Tripoli by Khalifa Haftar in 2019 and defected from the Tobruk-based HoR and along with other members, he started working from the Tripoli-based HoR until the reunification in March after the endorsement of the new interim executive authority.

The death of the member of the HoR brought to light the incident of HoR member Siham Sergiwa who was kidnapped in 2019 from her house in Benghazi after criticizing Haftar's offensive on Tripoli.
