Spokesman of the Libyan Army, Colonel Mohammad Qanunu

The spokesman for the Libyan Army forces under the command of the Government of National Accord (GNA) Mohammed Gununu has announced full control over Al-Asaba town, saying their forces are still chasing away retreating forces of Khalifa Haftar.

Gununu added on Thursday that the control over Al-Asaba came after the GNA forces had seized Jandouba and Awald Idriss areas in full, explaining that Air Force warplanes were still doing surveillance to target any movements of the fleeing Haftar's forces.

A source from Volcano of Rage Operation said GNA forces had carried out a large-scale attack from different frontlines on Al-Asaba town and after shy resistance from Haftar's forces, they seized the whole town in a matter of hours.

"Our forces are still following the fleeing fighters of Haftar's forces in valleys and desert areas south of Al-Asaba." The source added.

In a statement on Wednesday, Gununu called on civilians in Tarhouna and Al-Asaba to stay away from Haftar's forces positions and military areas, adding that GNA forces would provide trapped civilians with safe corridors.
