The Libyan Foreign Minister, Najla Al-Mangoush, said the reopening of the Chinese embassy in Tripoli is very important and so is the opening of its consulate in Benghazi after security conditions have become increasingly better with the swearing-in of the Government of National Unity.

Al-Mangoush met with the Chinese chargé d'affaires, Wang Qimin, in Tripoli and remarked that the reopening of the embassy would pave the way for the return of Chinese firms to resume the suspended projects in Tripoli and Benghazi as well as help in reconstituting the war-torn country.

Al-Mangoush hailed the importance of China and its global role, its close friendship and cooperation with Libya, and its execution of major projects in Libya in the fields of infrastructure, transportation and communications.

Meanwhile, Wang expressed China's welcome to the formation of the Government of National Unity in Libya that has gained confidence from the House of Representatives, unified the Libyan institutions, and begun a phase of security, stability and economic recovery.

Qimin said China is considering the return of its Embassy to Libya soon, adding that Chinese companies are preparing to return to Libya too and underlined the importance of continuing mutual support in international circles between China and Libya.

The meeting in Tripoli reviewed also convening the political consultation and joint committees soon as well as the Libyan role in Arab, Chinese and African Cooperation Forum and China's support for the request of the African Union to reform the UN Security Council and get a permanent seat.
