The Education Minister of the Libyan Presidential Council's (PC) government Othman Abdeljalil has denied social media gossip about him intending to run for Prime Minister in a newly elected government as per an ongoing effort by House of Representatives (HoR) and High Council of State (HCS) to reorganize the PC and elect a new government.

Abdeljalil told reporters on Sunday that he rejects the use of his name in such a political spat, adding that his job has always been and will be supporting stability in Libya and lead it to development, especially the educational sector.

Local media said Abdeljalil was willing to run for Prime Minister in the proposed government after an agreement is reached by HoR and HCS.

Meanwhile, the media also reported that some HoR members were pronouncing Abdeljalil's name in the circles to have him a likely incumbent of the post after his "great success" in the Education Ministry.

On Saturday, the High Council of State approved the HoR's proposal for the reorganization of the executive authority and delayed considering the amendment of the controversial Article 8 of the Libyan Political Agreement's appendix laws.

Despite the agreement on the reshaping of the PC into a head and two deputies and electing a new government, the HCS and HoR still have their disagreements that go back to the announcement of the UN action plan in September 2017.
