The Deputy Minister of Defense for the Government of National Accord (GNA) Salah Al-Namroush has said GNA forces are determined to seize control of the entire country so that all the cities can be under the legitimate authority in Libya.

Al-Namroush told the press on Saturday that the Head of the Presidential Council Fayez Al-Sarraj had confirmed that there is no backing off from the battle of liberation of all cities in Libya to honor the sacrifices of the martyrs who defended the capital and the country against the aggression of Khalifa Haftar’s militias.

The Deputy Minister of Defense also said that the GNA welcomed cooperation with any country, Arab or western, in the aim to boost Libya’s defense and security capabilities.

Al-Namroush added that over the last period, a Sudanese military delegation visited Tripoli and voiced the need to cooperate with the GNA in defense and security fields for the greater good of both countries and the region.

“We welcome cooperation with any country that backs up legitimacy in Libya and any country that recognizes the legitimate GNA as the sole government in Libya, unlike the countries involved in backing up the aggression on the GNA and the Libyan people in western Libya.” Al-Namroush added, referring to the planting of mines in south Tripoli, saying it resembled ISIS methods as they targeted civilians and even children with some explosives found in children's toys.

"We have formed a joint committee with the Interior Ministry to work on such matters and we have received support from Turkey which dispatched a team of demining experts on the ground. Italy has also expressed willingness to help in demining efforts." He explained.

He also said the Presidential Council contracted Jones Group to prepare a version that fits the future Libyan army as Libyan experts work on building a new structure for the Libyan Army, adding that a meeting was held recently with the Chief of Staff and other officers to that end.
