The Libyan Coast Guard personnel rescued 248 illegal immigrants in four operations off Libya's western coast, then the immigrants were transferred to Tripoli port.

The spokesman for the Libyan Navy said in a statement on Saturday that (Fezzan Boat) managed to carry out four rescue operations last Wednesday in north Tripoli, north Garabulli, north Abu Kammash, and north Al-Zawiya, then it transferred the immigrants to Tripoli port.

The statement said the operations were part of the Libyan coastguards' readiness to operate in the sea and secure the waters against any threats, smuggling or trafficking as well as to monitor NGOs and illegal immigration boats.

The statement thanked the Anti Illegal Immigration Authority and Tripoli port security personnel for cooperating with Coast Guard patrols in this incident.
