Libyan coastguards in Al-Khums rescued Sunday morning 116 
illegal immigrants of different African nationalities in northwestern the city.

According to the spokesman of the Libyan Navy, Ayoub Qasim, the Libyan coastguards were able to save the illegal migrants who were aboard a dinghy that broke down in the middle of the sea one mile off northwestern Al-Khums.

The rescue operation was in cooperation with the Italian coastguards’ control room, according to Qasim, who indicated that one migrant was found dead.

He added that the operation took 2 hours before the migrants were brought to Al-Khums port, where Libyan Red Crescent volunteers were ready to give them medical and humanitarian assistance before they get deported to the Illegal Immigration Fight centers in the city.
