The Chief of Staff of the Libyan Army of the Presidential Council Mohammed Al-Sharif said their forces were advancing on Khalifa Haftar's forces on different frontlines in southern Tripoli.

The remarks came in a meeting for Al-Sharif with the Head of the Presidential Council Fayez Al-Sarraj on Sunday, when they discussed the conditions on the fighting axes.

Al-Sharif reiterated that the Libyan Army forces and the backup forces are fighting well according to the military plans and tactics.

Over the last two days, Tripoli International Airport's frontline has seen fierce fighting as Haftar's forces attempted to advance toward Tripoli's downtown but were held back by the Libyan Army forces.

Meanwhile, Libyan Air Force air-raided Haftar's forces positions in Qasir Benghashir, Tripoli International Airport and in northern Gharyan to cut off supply lines for the forces attacking Tripoli.

Calm has also prevailed for the second day in different southern Tripoli areas with some artillery shelling without any direct fighting on the frontlines.
