Forces of the Libyan Army under the command of the Government of National Accord have made significant gains in southern Tripoli pushing warlord Haftar’s armed groups further away from previously held positions.

The forces launched a massive offensive in Salah Eddine, Ramla and Almshrou districts forcing Haftar’s militia groups to retreat.

Hours after heavy exchange of fire in Salah Eddine district, the army forces managed to recapture Tikbali military camp, the Police College, the Passport Authority building, the Criminal Investigations Department building, the Judicial Institute and Hai Zhour neighbourhood.

Haftar’s militia groups took these strategic sites later last year with the help of Wagner mercenaries.

Libyan Army forces also declared full control of Almshrou district while most of Ramla district has fallen in the hands of the army.

Meanwhile, the Ministry of Interior urged the internally displaced persons not to harry for the return to their houses until removing the explosive devices, planted by warlord Haftar’s groups during their retreat, from the liberated areas.
