On Monday, the Libyan peace process was in focus during talks in Moscow between Egyptian Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry and his Russian counterpart, Sergey Lavrov.

"We discussed maintaining the stability and unity of Libya, activating the road map, withdrawing all foreign forces from Libyan territory, and holding the upcoming elections on time," the Egyptian foreign minister told reporters after the meeting.

For his part, the Russian foreign minister confirmed at the joint press conference that discussions covered the developing situation in Libya.

Lavrov affirmed Russia's support for holding elections in Libya, adding that evacuating foreign forces should be conducted gradually and in stages.

Before the meeting, the Russian Foreign Ministry said that Lavrov would discuss with Shoukry, who is visiting Russia, plans to further extend the Russian-Egyptian cooperation in the political, trade, economic, cultural, and humanitarian spheres.
