Libya, Sudan review border protection cooperation

Head of UN-installed Presidential Council, Fayaz Sirraj, and Sudanese President, Omar Bashir, agreed on Sunday to enhance cooperation in securing borders and to revive agreements signed between the two countries.

Following their talks in Khartoum, President Bashir said the visit of Sirraj represents a new phase in the process of integrating bilateral relations and cooperation.

He said Sudan has no agenda in Libya and that it seeks security, stability and unity of Libya, adding his country had been affected by Libya’s instability.

To promote economic cooperation, Bashir welcomed Libyan investments in Sudan.

“Sudan stands ready to provide all the necessary assistance to the Libyan investors when they come to Sudan”. He said in a press conference with Sirraj.

For his part, Sirraj said his talks with Bashir focused on securing the joint borders and bolstering cooperation between the two countries.
