Libya has closed until further notice its embassy and general consulate in the Chadian capital of N'Djamena, one day after the Chadian foreign ministry decided to expel a number of Libyan diplomats.
"The embassy will close on August 25 and head of mission Mohammed Khalifa will stop working," a note verbale sent to the Chadian Foreign Ministry said.
The Chadian government declared on Wednesday, August 24, 13 Libyan diplomats persona non grata and ordered them to leave its territories in 48 hours.
It justified the decision that their stay in Chad was unnecessary.
"We noticed that there are a huge number of administrative and military diplomats working in the embassy. Their stay in Chad is unjustified." The Chadian foreign ministry explained.
