The international quartet group (IQG) on Libya emphasized the importance of holding parliamentary and presidential elections in the framework of a constitutional and electoral law before the end of the year according to the action plan of the United Nations Mission in Libya.

The group stressed in a statement Monday the sovereignty, independence and unity of Libya and its territorial integrity, reaffirming its support of the Presidential Council and the United Nations action plan in Libya, according to the official website of the League of Arab States.

The IQG also welcomed the efforts made to unify the security services, urging the House of Representatives and the High Council of State to continue their dialogue and shoulder their responsibilities to fulfil their role and mission.

The IQG called on all Libyan parties to continue cooperation with the United Nations envoy to Libya Ghassan Salame in order to implement the United Nations plan on a consensual basis.
