Philippine Foreign Affairs Assistant Secretary for the Middle East and African Affairs held talks in Tripoli on Sunday with Libyan officials over the two countries' cooperation, especially in the health sector.

At the High Council of State, Hjayceelyn Quintana discussed with the Second Deputy President of the council Mohammed Emazzib the return of Filipino health workers and construction companies to Libya. Concerns over the country's security situation were raised during the meeting.

The two sides also reviewed problems facing the Filipino expats in Libya and ways and means to solve them.

In a separate meeting, Quintana also met with officials from the Ministry of Health where she discussed working conditions of the Filipino doctors and nurses here including salaries and security.

In July 2014, the Philippine government ordered its nationals to leave Libya for security reasons, but many have ignored the order and decided to stay.
