The Minister of Foreign Affairs Najla Al-Manqoush said that they have agreed with the Italian side on the date to reopen the airspace between the two countries, confirming that Alitalia will resume flights to Libya.

In a televised speech, minister Al-Manqoush revealed that Italy is to open a consulate in Benghazi and an honorary one in Sabha to facilitate visa procedures.

She indicated that her visit to Italy was to activate the joint friendship treaty signed in 2008, confirming that it had reached fruitful results with respect to improving services for Libyan citizens and for commencing in the coastal road project from Musaed, eastbound, to Ras Jdir border west of the country.

Al-Manqoush described her discussions with the Italian side as important confirming that both indicated their willingness to reach satisfactory results.

As a highlight of the Libyan-Italian discussions in Rome was cooperation in the field of training, illegal immigration, southern border control, and supporting Libya's Coast Guard.
